The Ion Channel Biology Laboratory offers electrophysiological solutions/ assistance to research projects involving ion channels/receptors and other routine cell-based assays (including stem cells). Some routine assays conducted include and are not limited to:

1. HERG assay for assessing cardiotoxicity
2. Neurotoxicity screens
3. Effects of potential drug molecules/lead compounds on the cardiac, neuronal and muscular function (includes assays for compounds against arrhythmia, epilepsy, pain (analgesics, anaesthetics), spasms etc
4. Assays on ion channels, transporters
5. Nutrient transport in both plant and animal systems – Bioavailability studies
6. Patch clamp studies on any type of cells
